Friday - Our Last Full Day

Well, it had to arrive eventually and we enjoyed our last full day on Aurora.  It was yet another beautiful sunny day.

Once again we had lunch in the Cafe Bordeaux, but no afternoon tea as it was the P&O 'chockaholics' event instead and we actually couldn't face it!

The sea lanes were getting busier as we approached the Straits of Dover -

We said our goodbyes to our regular waiter in Anderson's and had a last look round before it's refurbished in the late autumn.

We also said our goodbyes to our lovely waiting staff in the dining room, including Sharon the wine waiter who has been such bubbly fun.  It as also our last evening with our lovely dining neighbours who made it seem like we had a table of 6+2 rather than two separate tables.

We got an hour back overnight as the clocks changed back to UK time and we had just about one of the most leisurely departures we have ever had on a cruise.  We were due to leave at 9.30am and we finally walked off, found our bags and the car and drove off - this time westwards - from the pier towards the M3.  Just over 4 hours later we were back at home.

Thursday - Stavanger

As we approached Stavanger, it was foggy and the ship’s horn started up just after 6am.  That has now cleared and there’s another beautiful day in prospect as the large high pressure area which has taken up residence over Scandinavia shows no signs of moving on.

The only other cruise ship in Stavanger today is the German 'Mein Schiff' which we last saw in 2010 in Villefranche when we were with Celebrity on the October half term Mediterranean cruise.

Stavanger is a lovely place.  The old town is right next to the ship and the dock area is so clean and tidy.  In the centre is the cathedral, modelled on Winchester Cathedral and the Tourist Information Office is across the square.  It's heaven in there - the free wifi is as good as our high speed broadband at home!

Can you see the car on the wall?

It's Ascension Day and H&M is shut!
